Living with the Land Tote

Attractio agricolae

Some of the most ambitious visions of tomorrow begin with the simplest questions. How do we feed each other? How do we care for the planet? And what might become possible if we approached both with a little more imagination?

Field notes

Fig. 086 — Observation

A fleet of slow-moving boats carries visitors through the changing environments of the natural world. Rain falls over a tropical forest, the desert stretches beneath an unforgiving sun, and the American prairie gives way to the working greenhouses beyond.

Here, the scenery becomes the science. Plants grow without soil, fish are raised alongside vegetables, and experimental growing techniques turn agriculture into something unexpectedly theatrical. The produce is real, much of it destined for kitchens nearby.

The attraction opened with EPCOT Center in 1982 as Listen to the Land, adopting its current name in 1993. More than four decades later, it remains a quietly extraordinary proposition: a ride about farming that people genuinely cannot wait to ride again.
