Attractio phantasmalis ampersandium

$32.00

Observations of a strange stretching room: one with no windows and no doors. Dynamite, hatchet, alligator, quicksand: four words that mean nothing together until you've observed four genteel portraits lengthen to reveal the fate waiting under each. A catalogue of catastrophes.

Field notes

Fig. 009 — Observation

First discovered in Anaheim in 1969, and later in Central Florida and Japan, this portrait gallery acts as the entryway to a "haunted mansion." (Note that a French variant with different portraits can be found in a regional phantom manor.) Still extant in every location, which is unusual for a place so preoccupied with the dead. Occupancy has held steady at 999, but observation suggests there's always room for a thousand.
